Hardness characteristics of as-cast Ni-Ru-Zr alloys

چکیده
The Vickers hardness of 21 as-cast Ni-Ru-Zr alloys different compositions were studied, and nanohardness indentations done on the individual phases. results used to explain brittleness by assessing proportions phases, their morphologies. compound varied between 704 - 1289 HV, with ~ZrRu2 being hardest phase, ~Zr2Ni7 least hard phase. sample was 300 1015 HV. Most samples brittle, although there regions toughness around Ni36:Ru13:Zr51 Ni20:Ru5:Zr75 (at.%). No alloy identified have potential good mechanical properties.

Dendritic solidification and fragmentation in undercooled Ni–Zr alloys
Kinetics of dendritic solidification and fragmentation of dendritic crystals in undercooled Ni–Zr samples are studied. Using the capacitance roximity sensor technique and a high-speed-camera system, the dendrite growth velocity has been measured as a function of initial undercooling n solidifying droplets processed by the electromagnetic levitation technique. Analyses of solidified droplets giv...
متن کاملInvestigation of Hardness and Impact Toughness of Zr-Microalloyed Cast Steel
Microalloyed cast steels are a group of microalloyed steels in which reliable mechanical properties could be achieved by heat treatment. In this work, the heat treatment processes were carried out on the cast specimens as the step samples by different thicknesses and Zr content. The results show that after homogenization, variations in thickness have no effect on the hardness. Also, after hea...
متن کاملHigh Hardness Nanocrystalline Invar Alloys Prepared from Fe-Ni Nanoparticles
High-density (>98% of full density) nanocrystalline invar alloys with significantly enhanced hardness (>240 in Vicker’s hardness) were prepared by sintering compacted Fe-Ni nanoparticles in hydrogen. The precursor Fe-Ni nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrogen plasma evaporation of bulk Fe61Ni39 alloys. The size and the productivity of the Fe-Ni nanoparticles increased with increasing hydroge...
متن کاملMicrostructural evolution of body-centered cubic structure related Ti–Zr–Ni phases in non-stoichiometric Zr-based Zr–Ti–Mn–V–Ni hydride electrode alloys
Non-stoichiometric Zr-based alloys were prepared, and the corresponding electrochemical properties were characterized as hydride electrode alloys. The microstructure and chemical composition of non-stoichiometric Zr–Ti–Mn–V–Ni hydride electrode alloys were systematically investigated by x-ray Rietveld refinement, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy under T...
